Biografie (1)
He first worked as a teaboy for the Gainsborough Studios in London, before quickly becoming an assistant director. During World War II, he worked in the Army Kinematograph Unit under writer and producer Eric Ambler, who, after the war, offered him to direct the thriller The October Man. During the 1960s and 1970s, he directed several films for Hammer Studios, including the classics Quatermass and the Pit (1967) and Dr. Jekyll & Sister Hyde (1971).
