Biografie

Nils Russel Müller is considered to be one of Norwegian film history's most productive directors, with 21 feature films to his name, as well as a short, and a couple of documentaries. In addition to his directing, he also wrote several of his own films, and even acted in some films of his colleagues.

He made his debut with Så møtes vi i morgen in 1946, regrettably to little success. However, the film laid the foundation for him to be awarded an UNESCO grant in 1949, that ensured him six months of film studies in Great Britain. Upon his return to Norway he directed the comedy We Are Getting Married, which premiered in 1951, to favorable reviews and great success at the box-office. Even one of the songs featured in the film, "Hva var vel livet uten deg", became a hit at the time, and has - as the film - since become somewhat of a classic in Norwegian culture, in the sense of a song everyone is familiar with.

Müller established his own production company NRM-FILM AS based on the success of We Are Getting Married, and continued to make both popular comedies and darker, more serious films the following decades. Müller directed his last feature film, My Marion, in 1975. In 1996 Müller was awarded an honorary Norwegian National Film Award Amanda for his efforts in Norwegian cinema.
