Biografie

Joe Wright (b. 1972, London) was acknowledged early on for his short films Crocodile Snap (1997 – BAFTA nomination) and The End (1998). He made major inroads in television, where he was involved in the mini-series “The Nature Boy” (2000), “Bodily Harm” (2002) and “Charles II – The Power and the Passion” (2003), and the award-winning show “Bob & Rose” (2001). He debuted in film in 2005 with an adaptation of the classic novel by Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice (2005), which brought him a string of awards, including a BAFTA for Most Promising Newcomer. He cemented his commercial popularity with an original adaptation of Ian McEwan’s novel Atonement (2007), which won BAFTAs for Best Film and Best Production Design, an Oscar for Best Original Score, and Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture and Best Original Score. After his drama The Soloist (2009), based on real events, he came up with the thriller Hanna (2011).
