Personally, I found this dive into the Spanish Middle Ages quite successful, largely due to the fact that it steered clear of historical inaccuracies. The creators skillfully played with intricate details (at one point, I was even reminded of Black Adder with its lavishly detailed description of a well-ventilated waste disposal system in a lavatory), so I didn't mind the emphasis on manipulation and intrigue over action-packed sequences. Venturing back into the Spanish Middle Ages for the third time, I must say, the creators are sticking to their guns. For those hoping for epic battles, this might not be the series for you, but personally, I'm loving the manipulations and intrigue. The tension around a potential battle was palpable this time, leaving me eagerly anticipating how the screenwriter will wriggle out of it in the next episode. (23.05.2021)

Well, the finale of the first season left me a bit lukewarm, mainly due to all the tedious crawling and annoying ravings. In my book, it's probably the weakest episode of the bunch so far. Still, I couldn't help but give it a solid four stars because there were some intriguing plot twists that caught my attention. Can't wait to see where they take it from here. 4*- (23.05.2021)
