Tamás is trying to escape the meaninglessness of everyday small town life. He becomes an Indian and builds a hut by the forest. Although he later returns to the town to is mother, he remains an eccentric even there; a cowboy. Everybody pokes fun at him, only children regard him with respect. He finds a friend who also wants to become an Indian, but the boy is soon shut into an insane asylum. Hajni, the girl-friend of the local roughneck, escapes to Tamás from Kockas brutality. The two visit the humane and silent Mr. Teacher living alone, and they later get married. But she runs away with Mommys money. Tamás asks her to come back, but Hajni refuses to return. Kocka finds her, but now Hajni asks Tamás to give her shelter in vain. Kocka stabs her to death. (Verleiher-Text)
