Ein wildes Wochenende

Kultige Hits wie Straw Dogs und vor allem Deliverance haben in diesem französischen Thriller eine unvergessliche Wirkung hinterlassen. Sowohl die ländliche Umgebung und Herbstwälder als auch das Gesamtkonzept und die Umsetzung selbst: Ein vergewaltigtes Opfer kämpft gegen eine Gruppe Jäger um sein Leben und versucht, in Sicherheit zu fliehen. Es geht um nichts anderes. Die Rohheit, der Schmutz und die Hoffnungslosigkeit spritzen förmlich daraus heraus, was auch ein einziges Plus ist. Aber dieser Film bewegt sich während der gesamten Zeit nicht vorwärts. Es geht hier mehr um die Jäger, von denen jeder anders denkt, handelt und etwas verbirgt, als um das bedauernswerte Mädchen. Es ist im Grunde genommen ein moderater Hixploiter, in dem es nicht um Leichen geht, sondern um Emotionen. Und diese werden am Ende gnadenlos mit Füßen getreten. (06.11.2011)

Deliverance upside down and in French style, an intimate and inexpensive but grittily raw and physically demanding film that approaches things from a completely different perspective. It’s not primarily about the victims, but about the hunters, about crumbling moral principles in a situation where a bunch of ordinary people suddenly face the overwhelming pressure of heavy collective guilt. Sometimes a bit awkwardly edited, but also realistically acted and written, and the last minutes, which clearly belong to the Hall of Fame of the exploitation genre, will make your mouth run dry. This is a somewhat different revenge film, where it almost seems like it's going to be torture porn like in the case of I Spit on Your Grave movies, but it has a different nature. The woman is raped, then she seeks revenge succinctly, and in the end, she becomes the prey herself, essentially turning into the hunted. This film succeeded with its atmosphere and the cat-and-mouse game it portrays. (07.08.2017)
