Regen Sie sich nicht auf, edle Hellseherin, ich wollte ihre Kugel nicht beleidigen. Der Anfang war milde gesagt verlegen, aber irgendwann nach dem extrem langwierigen Besuch des Kabaretts fing der Film dann doch an, unterhaltsam zu sein. Am besten gefiel mir die Schauspielleistung von Oldřich Nový, dessen Hauptheld sich wie eine Mischung aus Čeněk Šlégl und Miloš Kopecký verhalten hat. Und seine zauberhaft verstohlenen Bewegungen bei der Beobachtung seiner Frau! Ich habe eine Pistole gekauft. Geladen. – Bitte, wie? – Scharf. (28.10.2015)

The Antlers has the subtitle "A Capricious Frolic," which aptly captures the essence of this comedy. There are some really funny moments and dialogue, but despite the shorter runtime, I was a bit bored. It's probably because the plot itself is pretty predictable. However, Oldřich Nový in the role of the jealous Viktorin maintains his traditionally high standard, and his counterpart Sylva Langová also pleases the viewer's eye and certainly captivates with her expressive facial expressions. Also worth mentioning is the musical component of this post-war film, which nicely complements the period atmosphere. (70%) (03.12.2020)

It’s a clueless starting point, and wrapping this drivel in Art Nouveau Prague didn't help, but it didn't hurt either. I would like to see Sylva Langová naked, but I prefer if Olga Augustová was 12 years younger, and I can't stand Nelly Gaierová. And Oldřich? Who cares if he didn't reach the top until he was old? Are we going to fake that we are in our teenage years till we die? Unfortunately, yes. (26.02.2009)
