A film that shows that in 1948, there were certainly skilled actors who carried the entire film, and it didn't matter that it was a film mostly set indoors, because they were just good enough to capture one’s attention. The film is also distinguished by how well it tackles the theme of beauty and the hardships of human fate. We live to rejoice and to suffer.
