His name may be Miro Žbirka, but to everyone he’s just Meky. He’s a household name and his hits are well-known, but few actually know the man himself or the kind of life he leads. Yet his story is like a wonderful song – it’s got a great plot, tempo, emotion, and it’s full of surprises. The energetic celluloid portrait Meky presents the popular singer close up in unexpected contexts, with openness, sincerity and humour. Žbirka’s confession is complemented with shots from his recent London concert and with extensive archive material. A film created by Šimon Šafránek, who garnered a Czech Lion for his previous documentary King Skate. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)

Englisch I don't know about anyone else, but I thoroughly enjoyed this biopic. Watching it brought back a lot of music-related memories. Although I have never been a big fan of Meky, I have to admit that he has a lot of immortal hits that I love to listen to anytime. I particularly enjoyed his big beat period, which often came to the fore in the band Modus with the amazing Marika Gombitová, who, according to the footage used, appeared on stage as a true rock rebel in her youth. I still remember her car accident vividly, it was such a shock not only for me but also for most of my family... The documentary lacks a critical perspective, but that won't stop me from giving it a positive review because it exudes a huge amount of positive energy and is also quite well-edited. I still remember one old wisdom: "Fortune favors the prepared." And Miro Žbirka has always been such a person, despite all the vicissitudes of his life. He deserves thanks for the joy he spreads with his music. (75%) ()
