Der Film dreht sich um einen kleinen Jungen namens Alexander Napolean Ulysses Latour, der in einem kleinen Örtchen in Louisiana lebt, und es liebt, am Fluß zu spielen. Sein Leben soll sich für immer ändern, als sein Vater einem Ölkonzern gestattet, auf eben diesem Land nach Öl zu bohren. (Verleiher-Text)

Well, it has its charm, not gonna lie, but on the other hand, I think there could have been a bit more interesting things filmed in that area. It can't be praised. Some scenes are good, they managed to film really great scenes with the animals, but that is truly the main contribution. And of course, the depiction of the era and the perspective on mining.
