(Sony Channel)

Nikotin (2010) (S12E01)

Englisch It didn't grip me as much as other Poirot films from this period, but that's just because of the story. I was quite intrigued by the filmmaking techniques used, such as the details and the blending of images. This is indeed intriguing in the film. Poirot also doesn't lose any of his power, and David Suchet truly gives him the ultimate form. ()

Die Halloween-Party (2010) (S12E02)

Englisch It's incredibly beautiful how this story manages to capture the horror atmosphere, essentially just through the night, a bit of fog, and the right shots. This adds a lot to it, as well as the resolution, which is presented very darkly and insanely, which has the right effect on the viewer. These last episodes are extremely sophisticated and good. ()

Mord im Orient-Express (2010) (S12E03)

Englisch This story completely captivated me, not only due to Agatha's excellent foundation but also because of its execution. It is an incredibly dark story, where Suchet is reserved and most of the time holds only one acting position, which adds to the depression. Overall, the setting is superbly captured and adds to the overall impression of the story, which is definitely unconventional and strong. ()

Auf doppelter Spur (2011) (S12E04)

Englisch A whodunit that relies on a B-plot and emphasizes it beautifully. Yet it's not at all B-grade; it's excellently crafted and shows how great the author was, and how, just like her cinematic followers, she could play with the genre. This episode also immensely entertained me, and its tangled plot disarmed me. ()

Elefanten vergessen nicht (2013) (S13E01)

Englisch Here once can beautifully see how it's possible to focus on two different cases and eventually realize that both Poirot and Oliver are actually solving the same case, which is very tangled, even though the solution is actually quite simple, and the viewer manages to uncover it quite early. Relatively early in the series, I mean. But that doesn't detract from its quality. ()

Die großen Vier (2013) (S13E02)

Englisch Especially because the Big Four, here Poirot, Hastings, Japp, and Lemon, actually appear, this episode deserves the highest rating possible. This reunion is simply worth it, especially when you've watched the series and you know that this is truly the last meeting of this quartet. The story disappointed me a bit in its finale, but Poirot really played a great game here, just like his adversary. ()

Wiedersehen Mit Mrs. Oliver (2013) (S13E03)

Englisch I'm slowly nearing the end, and I must say I'm excited about these final cases. There are no bad ones that are unwatchable, and none within the series as a whole. This one is well-paced, and in the end, it doesn't even reach the final scene where the murderer is revealed in front of the audience. Even so, the denouement is worth it. ()

Die Arbeiten des Herkules (2013) (S13E04)

Englisch I was absolutely enchanted by the setting, which was simply beautiful. The beautiful Swiss Alps, with their peaks that are snow-covered year-round and very few people around. This is how I imagine an ideal holiday. And on top of that, there's a story that is definitely not bad - in fact, it's very good and has a surprising denouement. As always. Even though it's not the last Poirot installment, it was the last one I watched, and so a certain nostalgia came over me. ()

Vorhang: Poirots letzter Fall (2013) (S13E05)

Englisch I have never watched Poirot much, but the books got me interested, so I thought I would give Suchet a chance and catch up on what I missed so many times on TV. And I started right away with the last episode, which shows how well-developed and clearly defined the character already was and how well it is possible to film it on TV. The film was very well done and it is a beautiful farewell to the beloved character portrayed by its court representative. ()
