Der brutale Mord an einem Mädchen, das mit amputierten Gliedmaßen aufgefunden wird, erschüttert ein ganzes Land! Daraufhin werden die beiden rivalisierenden Ermittler Han-su (Lee Sung-min) und Min-tae (You Chea-myung) auf den Fall angesetzt. Durch die Festnahme eines Verdächtigen scheint die grausame Tat aufgeklärt und der Mörder gefasst. Min-tae zweifelt jedoch an der Schuld des Angeklagten. Zeitgleich trifft Han-su auf einen Informanten, der den wahren Täter zu kennen verspricht. Doch dieser tötet vor den Augen des Ermittlers einen Drogenhändler und schlägt ihm anschließend einen geheimen Deal vor. Es ist Zeit für Han-su, die richtige Entscheidung zu treffen – wird er den Rachemord des Informanten decken, um zum Mörder des Mädchens zu gelangen? (Constantin Film)

I expected a little more. The Beast doesn't really know what it wants to be. Whether a thriller about the hunt for a serial killer, or a gangster movie, or a drama about the conflict between two cops. It's kind of all together, but it doesn't work as it should. Visually, however, it’s of good quality, the atmosphere is very dark and a couple of scenes were excellent (the opening is reminiscent of Taylor Sheridan's gritty films, and the action scene in the apartment complex also had something to it). As a whole, however, I wasn't completely blown away, but that may well be because South Korea has already set the bar very high. It's not a waste of time, but it doesn't outright stand out from the competition in any way. Story***, Action***, Humor>No, Violence***, Entertainment***, Music***, Atmosphere****, Suspense***. 6/10.
