Vor den Türen eines Krankenhauses wird die völlig verwahrloste Darlin’ bewusstlos aufgefunden. Als das junge Mädchen in der Klinik wieder zu Bewusstsein kommt, wird schnell klar, dass sie alles andere als normal ist. Sie beißt, schlägt um sich und scheint nicht einmal richtig sprechen zu können. Während die Ärzte und Pfleger noch über ihre Herkunft rätseln, hat der örtliche Bischof schon einen Plan. Er will Darlin' zu einem respektablen Mitglied der Gesellschaft machen und nimmt sie in sein Heim für Mädchen auf. I understand than Darlin was intended as a b-movie. The premise calls for it. And I actually was in the mood to see something simple, not overly clever at the moment. This, however, was a piece of crap. It had a few good moments, but those got buried under terrible, animal-like amateurism.

Like its predecessor, Darlin' tries to pretend that it's smarter and more radical than smartness and radicalness, but this time around, the mess cannot be saved either by the directorial concept, nor – God forbid – any filmmaking precision. If women-empowerment films are going to look like this in the future, I think women are pretty much in danger of losing the vote again.
