Zabawa, zabawa

I’m not sure if the FTC shouldn’t intervene, as the title of the film is clearly misleading the consumer (i.e., the viewer). Instead of Zabawa, zabawa (= Fun, fun), a more appropriate title would be Depression, Depression. The Danish Another Round (2020) was entertaining in a different way. It presented the depressing subject in a more palatable form without trivializing it. The Polish filmmakers opted for a grim representation. While it was a quality film, I’d have appreciated it if things lightened up a bit occasionally. There’s another thing that bothered me. The filmmakers should have either limited the film to just one story or increased the running time considerably (I wouldn’t mind at all). This way, the individual storylines weren't properly fleshed out, and the film seemed to be missing something. On the other hand, I was completely okay with the open endings, as they added a touch of reality to the storylines. I had a great time watching the film. I’m simply a fan of Polish cinema. / Lesson learned: I guess they drink a lot in Poland. (03.10.2022)
