In 1956, 23-year-old Canadian biologist Anne Innis Dagg made an unprecedented solo journey to South Africa to become the first person in the world to study animal behavior in the wild on that continent. After returning home – with groundbreaking research – she was denied tenure from two universities for a being woman thus transforming her into a feminist activist. After three decades of absence from the giraffe world, she was sought out, brought back to into the fold, and finally celebrated for her work. A now older, wiser Anne takes us on her first expedition back to Africa to retrace where her trailblazing journey began more than half a century ago. (Newport Beach International Film Festival)
