Osteuropa im 17. Jahrhundert: Ein kleines Dorf wird von Invasoren attackiert, die den Bewohnern die Schuld an einer tödlichen Seuche gibt. Um das Dorf zu schützen, beschwört die junge Hanna ein uraltes Ritual: aus Lehm erschafft sie den Golem, eine Kreatur in der Gestalt eines Kindes. I suppose I expected a bit more from the makers of The Golem when they took on something that is close to their nationality and is not a found footage film. But the film is ultimately quite ordinary, and the golem takes a form that targets family feelings rather than the horror that a horror fan wants above all else. For me, the potential remained rather untapped.
