Cuentos de chacales

Francisco Cruzans is filmed from the day of his birth to present day. A voyeuristic cocktail that condenses a life in 70 minutes, alternating –in apparent chaos– among archival images, VHS home movie and anecdotes from a group of mysterious characters in a hypnotic, disconcerting cinematic patchwork. A title card with white words on black background states, “Memory is not the capture of an original event. It is the reconstruction of the way in which we remember it last.” There is no slavish intention of depicting an objective reality, but rather reconstructing through arbitrary fragments, turning everyday life into a string of poetic instants.
