Gloria is very transparent and implausible film. It looks like it could have been lighthearted, but it ends up taking itself quite seriously, which hurts it because it would have been nice if it was more of a comedy. Sharon wants to do a lot of acting, but this is just a classic mother role with a person from whom no one would expect it.
