Paris, Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts: In der akademischen Männerwelt der Universität Sorbonne hat Marie Skłodowska (Rosamund Pike) als Frau und auf Grund ihrer kompromisslosen Persönlichkeit einen schweren Stand. Allein der Wissenschaftler Pierre Curie (Sam Riley) ist fasziniert von ihrer Leiderschaft und Intelligenz und erkennt ihr Potential. Er wird nicht nur Maries Forschungspartner sondern auch ihr Ehemann und die Liebe ihres Lebens. Für ihre bahnbrechenden Entdeckungen erhält Marie Curie als erste Frau 1903 gemeinsam mit Pierre den Nobelpreis für Physik. Sein plötzlicher Tod erschüttert sie zutiefst, aber Marie gibt nicht auf. Sie kämpft für ein selbstbestimmtes Leben und für ihre Forschung, deren ungeheure Auswirkungen sie nur erahnen kann und die das 20. Jahrhundert entscheidend prägen werden. (StudioCanal Deutschland)

Very good biopic. On the one hand, it is a traditional formula, but on the other, it is also an original presentation, especially thanks to the almost documentary-like inserts that show the various uses of radioactivity that the Curies did not live to see (from the bombing of Hiroshima to cancer treatment). The film has a strange, hard to describe, almost magical mood, which is supported by the amazing music with solos for a theremin, and I probably don't need to write about the fact that Rosamund Pike is perfect. It's just a pity that Radioactive isn't longer or that it's not a miniseries, because this story and this topic deserve a deeper dive.
