The heroes of this merry ghost story are boys and girls who are pulled into battle against some adults who would like to turn an old castle into an agricultural building. With the aid of the ghosts of the knight Vilém Brtník of Brtník and his daughter Leontýnka who haunt the ruins, and the many dwarves the knight summons, they manage to achieve their goal. The castle is repaired and passed into the care of the children. And Leontýnka, who compains about the fate of immortal beings, is turned into a normal girl thanks to the oxeye daisy given to her in love by Long Jenda. (Zlín Film Festival)

Englisch I've known all the songs and lines since I was a kid. When Long Live Ghosts! was on TV, I looked forward to it for a week ahead and couldn't fall asleep. Then my sister and I would sit in front of the TV and we thought the commercials during the movie were amazing. That's how much I loved this movie. Oh, and I wanted to be Leontýnka, of course :-) ()

Englisch I loved it when I was a kid, but now not so much. It’s so fairytale sweet that it almost hurts… And I don’t know why, but the theme song really irritates me. Three stars out of nostalgia. ()

Englisch Little children and a musical are words I am said to mutter occasionally in my most feverish nightmares. Long Live Ghosts! does have a pretty nice summer vacation atmosphere, but it's ultimately a kind of confused pioneer agitprop where everything happens kind of by accident because everyone (except Němeček, whose trick with the gnomes I really admired and couldn't quite figure out the trick until one pub jumped out of perspective at the end) just kind of goofs off in front of the camera spouting truly awful drivel. Englisch This fairytale is just so beautifully naive that I can't help but rate it highly. There are so many memorable lines that I don't even know where they come from, and I use them myself. Moreover, the songs are simply unforgettable, and Svěrák and Uhlíř gave their all in them. It still entertains me after all these years. ()

Englisch A Czech classic that never gets old. Plus, those little kids don't even have to act much and yet they are the best and most natural entertainers… ()
