The film was rather lame. Halfway into it, I was still hesitating between one star and a “Boo”. But everything was saved by the way Nina got going in the end. I always thought that Russians run mainly on vodka, but I had no idea what half a pound of cocaine will do to them. Ash needed a chainsaw, a skillful Russian will manage with a basic toolkit.

The American production The Russian Bride is a horror movie that goes for broke. From the beginning, the cards are on the table, and you identify the violent aggressor and the victim. The casting was too straightforward and the actors were typecast. I did not mind it entirely, although I felt like I was being robbed of something and just waiting for some of the ideas to pop up, which they did now and then.
