Dax (Lil Rel Howery), klein, untersetzt und stark kurzsichtig, hat seine Ersparnisse bis zum letzten Dollar aufgebraucht, um eine Mannschaft beim Rucker Classic Streetball Wettbewerb in Harlem zu melden. Leider muss er einige Rückschläge einstecken, besonders hart für ihn: er verliert sein Team an seinen langjährigen Rivalen (Nick Kroll). Dax ist am Boden zerstört. Er muss das Turnier und das Preisgeld gewinnen! Zufällig trifft er auf den Mann, den Mythos die Legende: UNCLE DREW (NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving). Dax überzeugt ihn, noch einmal auf das Spielfeld zurückzukehren. Die beiden Männer brechen zu einem Roadtrip auf, um Drews altes Basketballteam (Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson und Lisa Leslie) zusammenzutrommeln und zu beweisen, dass einer Gruppe Senioren immer noch der ganz große Wurf gelingen kann. This is a very nice surprise and one of the best black comedies, and actually about basketball, I've seen. Uncle Drew is an unbelievable dude who plays basketball with love and does some really incredible things at times, but I was also entertained by the rest of the team with the pastor, the blind man, the old man in a wheelchair and the giant, it's a really amazing lineup. I also liked the local English with its sharp slang. I really laughed for the first hour and enjoyed the great basketball games for the second hour and for a sport I'm not into at all, I couldn't stop gawking. Amused, touched, surprised. 80%.
