Bei Ermittlungen zum Mord an dem reichen Bauern Johann Kiening trifft Kommissar Benno Berghammer seine alte Liebe Madeleine wieder. Die Dompteurin, die in einem kleinen Wanderzirkus arbeitet, war seit Jahren mit Kiening liiert und wollte ihn jetzt heiraten. Doch ihr 16-jähriger Sohn Leo konnte Kiening nicht ausstehen. Hat der Bursche den Bauern erstochen? Benno fühlt sich etwas befangen, als ihm Madeleine eröffnet, dass Leo sein Sohn ist. Noch dazu, da der Bub ein ausgezeichneter Messerwerfer ist. (ORF)

This episode is a pleasant combination of a murder investigation and performances of a circus that steals from the town rather than bringing them any joy. Plus, a farmer along with the local milkmaid discover a cadaver on a cultivated field and they stare at it as if they saw dead bodies at least every other day. Benno also finds out that the circus boy might be his son, therefore we find out that even Benno used to have a love life when he was a few pounds lighter. But the investigation is pretty solid and so the episode becomes another life story of the people in Bad Tölz, which is nice to watch.
