Der zum Tode verurteilte Bandit Tuco und sein Partner Joe beschaffen sich auf ebenso gefährliche wie dreiste Art ihr Geld. Joe liefert seinen Komplizen dem nächstbesten Sheriff aus und kassiert die auf ihn ausgesetzte Summe. Im allerletzten Moment rettet er dann den Partner vor der Hinrichtung.
