Beartrek was born on the back of motorcycle. A decade ago, British ecologist Chris Morgan set out on a mission to discover and protect the world’s most loved – and often feared - carnivore. Positively overwhelmed by the wild adventures and the heart-melting experiences he encountered along the way, Chris became determined to educate people of all backgrounds to understand the basic truth he had discovered: what’s good for bears is good for people and the planet. Beartrek documents his multi-continent motorcycle odyssey to some of the wildest places on earth - from the biggest bears on earth to the smallest, and from ice and snow to humid tropical forests. The film showcases stunningly beautiful cinematography from Borneo, Peru, Alaska and the Arctic, but what really drives it are the stories of individuals in the field who have devoted their lives to protect these magnificent creatures. By giving Chris hair-raising proximity to bears in their wild domain, these scientists help us understand the critical role they play in preserving the global ecosystem on which we all depend. The stories also leave us with a sense of hope. In Wildlife Media’s first documentary feature film, Chris Morgan joins forces with award-winning cinematographer Joe Pontecorvo to bring you this moving story, beautiful score and world-class wildlife footage. His hope: that Beartrek’s fresh approach to conservation will inspire audiences to help preserve not only bears, but some of the last remaining wild spaces on earth.
