Die zehnjährige Anna leidet an einer seltenen, lebensbedrohlichen Darmerkrankung. Ihre Mutter Christy lässt nichts unversucht und jagt mit ihr von Arzttermin zu Arzttermin. Weder die Schul- noch die Alternativmedizin bietet eine wirksame, lindernde Behandlung. Als Anna einen schweren Unfall erleidet, wacht sie kurz darauf ohne Symptome ihrer Krankheit auf. Felsenfest behauptet sie, während ihrer Nahtoderfahrung von Gott geheilt worden zu sein. (ORF)

I just can't stand similar nonsense. Of course, something strange could have happened that we cannot explain because we don't have the capacity and knowledge for it yet, but immediately attributing it to God is simply a pose. Furthermore, the characters are unbelievably boring and predictable, as if every American family was caring, beautiful, and loving. Kitsch, and moreover, religiously babbling.

You can sit through anything, but I sure did not expect a movie this pushy. It could have been a nice family drama with a happy ending in the style of then Hallmark TV. Actually, there is a huge spoiler in the title. Nevertheless, I held my own through the entire film. For instance, everybody should like wacky Queen Latifah in this one. But the encounter with God at the end of the movie got me to my knees so hard that I could no longer follow what’s happening in the film.
