USA, 1941. Der afroamerikanische New Yorker Anwalt Thurgood Marshall vertritt Personen, die nur wegen ihrer Hautfarbe einen Schuldspruch erwarten müssen. In Connecticut will er den Fall von Joseph Spell übernehmen. Dessen weiße Vorgesetzte Eleanor Sturbing gibt an, von ihm vergewaltigt worden zu sein. Da Marshall untersagt wird, als auswärtiger Anwalt vor Gericht und mit Zeugen zu sprechen, ist er auf seinen Kollegen Sam Friedkin angewiesen. The best courtroom drama since A Time to Kill hands down! The excellent Chadwick Boseman and Josh Gad are trying to exonerate their client of color who was convicted of raping a white woman, but he maintains his innocence. 90% of the film takes place in court, which I loved, and the verbal shootouts are perfect. The whole finale is very strong and the twist even stronger. What an experience!! Story*****, Action>No, Humor>No, Violence*, Entertainment*****, Music***, Visuals****, Atmosphere****, Suspense****. 9/10.

I have to say that I liked this film. The theme is indeed quite expected - after all, the racial issue is alive, but it's done well, with interesting actors, and most importantly the story is interesting and it's good that it's been highlighted. The fact that there is still racial intolerance in America - and not only there - will continue to be an issue for a long time.
