Isn't It Romantic

Isn't It Romantic besticht vor allem durch sein originelles Thema, das sich über romantische Klischees aller Art lustig macht, was dem Film stellenweise ganz gut gelingt, manchmal aber auch ein wenig hinkt. Rebel Wilson war perfekt für die Hauptrolle einer Frau, die nicht an die klischeehaften Geschichten in Schmonzetten glaubt. Neben ihr war ich am meisten von Brandon Scott Jones in der Nebenrolle des Donny beeindruckt, der wiederum schwule Stereotypen parodierte. Allerdings werde ich das Gefühl nicht los, dass aus der Idee selbst noch etwas mehr hätte herausgeholt werden können. Als One-View-Komödie ist der Film jedoch völlig ausreichend und bietet einen anständigen Soundtrack mit bekannten Songs. (13.03.2019)

A pretty originally conceived romantic comedy where the main character ends up in the world of romantic movies and is pursued by Liam Hemsworth, who wouldn't bat an eye at Rebel Wilson in the real world. Wilson's performance is pretty ok and she fills her role as a Hollywood buffoon just fine, a few lines are amusing and overall it's a nice respite that takes its foot off the gas slightly in the last act. Somehow I think that this comedy could have opened the gates to the world of American comedies for Rebel Wilson, if only it was funny. It seemed that the authors completely forgotten about humor and offered nothing but soulless scenes. (03.06.2019)
