This new documentary on the traditional lifestyle of a Sami reindeer herding cooperative in Finnish Lapland is an important cultural act. Members of the cooperative are given a voice rarely heard in Finnish cultural and political life; they describe in their own words the kind of threats their livelihood - reindeer herding - faces in the modern world. At the same time, the documentary introduces viewers to the special characteristics of their culture, for instance the cooperative's strong sense of community and ties with the land. The different stories are brought together by the Sami actress, Anni-Kristiina Juuso. (Savonlinna International Nature Film Festival)
