A film about the urgent need to make final decisions when a man comes to a crossroad in his life. The painter Juraj, a Slovak living in Prague, is quite helpless when he, being in his thirties realizes that he had been leading a superficial life. He gradually evaluates his own situation and tries to change his life for the better. (Verleiher-Text)

The story itself seems to drift into the background in places. The chosen form somewhat overpowers the content and message, but Jakubisko's feature debut The Prime of Life impressed me much more than many of his later famous movies. (80%)
