Ocean's 8

Ein ausgesprochen angenehmer Film. Die weibliche Version von Ocean's Eleven bis Ocean's 13. Ocean's 8 ist eine wahre Augenweide, eine Truppe großartiger Schauspielerinnen in großartigen Rollen und noch besseren Masken und Kostümen. Wer würde da nicht dahinschmelzen? (01.10.2019)

Erschöpft, künstlich aufgebockt, ein Damenplagiat (kein Spin-off) Ocean's Eleven, in dem jeder Versuch von Humor... und eigentlich jeder Versuch von irgendetwas in Krämpfen endet. Ocean's 8 können sich die Hände reichen mit Ghostbusters von Paul Feig und sich gegenseitig über die beiden faulsten Gelddrucke der letzten Jahre austauschen. (16.02.2021)

I didn't really buy it, but it was a very pleasant surprise. A very strong female cast, dominated by Sandra Bullock and Anne Hathaway, but Cate Blanchett and Rihanna are also good. The film keeps a solid pace throughout and I really enjoyed watching the planning of the heist as well as the execution, which was delivered intelligently and engagingly enough with a nice final twist included. I also liked the insurance man Columbo, so a decent heist entertainment. 80%. (30.08.2018)

Sandra Bullock and her crew are about to steal a three-pound diamond necklace, and they want to look good doing it. Ocean’s 8 wants to be as cool as Ocean’s Eleven, but this gang lacks the charm and some serious thievery to pull it off. Instead, there's plenty of luxury, expensive clothes and jewellery, and all too often the feeling that you're looking at an overpriced fashion catalogue rather than a heist crime comedy. Ocean’s 8 is not that different from Ocean’s Eleven. Same number of famous actresses, I had the same neutral feeling about each of them, only Cate Blanchett looked at least a bit like a femme fatale and Helena Bonham Carter didn’t disappoint with her standard avant-garde style. Otherwise the movie was full of characters without emotions. And there was a plan whose probability to succeed was 1 to a billion. Moreover, same things keep happening over and over again so the ending is full of “shocking” moments which prove how Sandra Bullock had this genius robbery of the millennium all thought out. Same old, same old over and over again. The interesting thing is that I do like the individual actresses but I had quite a hard time to get to like any one of them in this movie. I don’t know if it is a trademark of this type of movies but it was the same with Ocean’s Eleven. (11.09.2019)
