The young farmer returns home from the village pub at two in the morning. Zsuzsi, his wife, who has been impatiently waiting for him for hours, runs at him angrily. In her view an honest man is at home by 9 o'clock at the latest. The young man then persuades his increasingly conciliatory wife, – with songs, gypsy music, dancing and a bit of threatening, – to answer his question of „What is the time, Zsuzsi?" by saying earlier and earlier hours, until she says „eight o'clock". He then triumphantly concludes that as it is as early as eight, he has one more hour until nine, and returns to the pub. (Verleiher-Text)
