In 1920 an archaeological expedition discovers the tomb of an ancient Egyptian child prince. Returning home with their discovery, the expedition members soon find themselves being killed off by a mummy, which can be revived by reading the words off the prince's burial shroud. (Shout! Factory)

Diesem Hammer aus ägyptischem Umfeld war nicht so mein Geschmack. Eine schwächere Geschichte über eine wiederbelebte Mumie, die auf Befehl ihrer Meister unerwünschte Personen massakriert, hätte mich nicht gestört. Ich habe sogar akzeptiert, dass die Mumie erst in der zweiten Hälfte des Films ihr Unwesen treibt. Sogar über die Pappkullissen habe ich hinweggesehen. Das Problem ist einfach, dass ich bei Hammerfilmen auf den typischen Gothic-Stil gewöhnt bin, wo das großartige Setting, alte Schlösser und natürlich die einzigartige Atmosphäre die Filme zu mehr machen als nur billige Horrorgeschichten. Dieser Film jedoch vermisst all das, also werde ich lieber zu Dracula zurückkehren. ()
I actually like the modern mummy flicks much better, even if it's just American entertainment. The older Hammer films are characterized by being repetitive, having minimal scenes with the mummy itself, and ultimately, they're not even that much of a horror. The Mummy's Shroud is no exception to this. However, the final scene with the mummy's death is well-executed. It is very good in terms of special effects. ()
