When Alena arrives at her new elite boarding school, Filippa and the other girls start to harass her. But Alena's best friend Josefin won't let her take anymore beating. If she won't strike back, Josefin will do it for her. Hard. Alena is from a poor background but is being transferred to an elite boarding school. Her posh classmate Filippa despises everything about Alena and quickly turns all the other girls against her. What begins as verbal bullying soon turns towards physical abuse. The only person Filippa is dying to befriend is Fabienne, one year senior – trendy and rich. But Fabienne has taken an interest in Alena. This relationship is not only a grievance for Filippa, but also to Alena's jealous friend from the past – Josefin. As the rivalries escalate among the girls, Josefin's initial help and protection turn to be a greater threat than Alena could foresee, not only for Filippa and Fabienne, but for herself as well. Let it be heard that this is a great small-scale movie from the Swedes who can be pleasantly surprising from time to time with horrors like these. Alena is a timid girl and the entire time, it’s obvious that she’s (and this might be a spoiler to some people) a bit schizophrenic. But despite the confessions of everyone involved, the movie maintains its suspense and an atmosphere you could cut with a knife, and the knife wouldn’t manage to cut through anyway. You need to forget all the regular movie nonsense or the intentional movie scenes and brace yourself for the fact that Alena is an unorthodox girl who might be getting bullied, but it doesn’t even phase her.
