Záhadný případ Galginův

The National Film Archive has an uncanny ability to pass off the least interesting films as treasures. The rediscovery of Galgin's Mysterious Case corresponds to a similar case to the Czech film The Shaft of Buried Ideas. Yes, it's great that in the 1990s the films were discovered and added to the mosaic of Czech silent film. Do these two aforementioned films belong on festive screens and cable TV more than other old Czech films? It’s better to misplace mediocre films and then celebrate them rather than face up to what should have been available long ago. (09.09.2010)
