Solicitor Lukács is well known for his expertise in divorce. Every case is managed with a view to gallantry to women; he protects the helpless female sex, and the divorces are announced to be the husbands' fault. He lets a room and while he is away, Csahos, his articled clerk, in charge of business affairs in the absence of the solicitor, lets almost all of the flat to Székely Klári, a pretty university student. Lukács, driving his car to Siófok, accidentally bumps into his wife and their friend, Bognár Miklós. Misunderstanding the situation, he asks for a divorce. His wife and Bognár go to talk to him, but find only Klári in their apartment. This prompts the wife to ask for a divorce, too, but to be announced as the husband's fault. Klári would like to save Lukács's marriage, because if the marriage goes, the room for rent will also go. Yet she has fallen in love with him and therefore can no longer profess to be emotionally unattached to him. The divorce is announced to be the husband's fault, and Lukács consoles himself with Klári's love. (Verleiher-Text)
