When teenage Medina (Maika Monroe) moves with her family to the picture-perfect paradise of Palos Verdes, California, they seem headed for a happy new chapter in their lives. Surprisingly, a very decent drama about a family that is majorly fucked up and vainly thinks that a newly bought beach house in California will pull them out of very big emo-problems. It won’t. On the contrary, it sets off a very solid drama circle that is dominated by the fact that I have never seen such nicely fleshed out depression in a movie ever before. An interesting point of view.
