Westworld

The first season really blew my mind. Each character seemed to live and die in their own storyline, until I suddenly realized that they lived and died in multiple storylines within the park and still get to experience the same in real life in the labs of society. Let me tell you it's a pretty depressing experience for artificial intelligence that is becoming self-aware. The whole season was quite strange. At times it was low-key fun, and at other times a drama of unsuspected depth. Except for a few weak moments, it was a great show. What an ending. (24.01.2017)

The first episode threw me right into the heart of the action, without me knowing what was happening. Fortunately, the plot began to unfold before I fell into a state of absolute confusion. I was surprised by the contrast between the calmness and sterile cleanliness of the laboratories, which is juxtaposed with the brutality and brain-shooting of the Wild West. As a whole, it creates a perfect effect. Sure, I know "Paint It Black," but I've never heard it instrumentally like this. (22.01.2017)

After the second episode, satisfaction still persists, the story is developing well, more and more questions arise, therefore more answers are still missing, but I suspect that I will soon get some. The behavior of the Westworld visitors strongly reminds me of the behavior of some visitors at the zoo, who bring fruit with razor blades and, when they can, throw stones at gorillas. (22.01.2017)

The third episode left me with an impression of being uneven. I was fully concentrated during the action scenes, but the rest of the plot somewhat dulled and slightly bored me. However, I don't mean to say that I didn't like this episode, it just seemed a tad weaker to me than the previous two episodes. (22.01.2017)

The third episode had, from my perspective, a few dull moments, but in the fourth one, I didn't come across any. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire episode; I started getting some answers to the pile of questions that the series has raised so far, and there was another great shootout with a brilliant musical accompaniment. The fifth episode is much more open, it is even so open that they saved quite a bit on costumes. The plot is becoming clearer as well as the thought processes of some of the robocitizens, I just hope that in future episodes the creators will focus more on developing the storyline rather than on nude scenes, I felt a bit like I was at an ornithologists' conference. I highly enjoyed the highly conspiratorial sixth episode, exactly the kind of plots I like, and the story spread out so much that all the characters and their stories won't fit into one episode anymore. Paranoia is nicely developing among the characters, who wouldn't be surprised by that, right? (23.01.2017)

The seventh episode was fantastic, this time it brought a lot of interesting answers and the plot twist caught me completely off guard. So I was prepared for a twist, but I expected it to be completely different, so I am gleefully laughing and praising! (23.01.2017)

The eighth episode is slightly weaker compared to the previous one, but I really enjoy the storyline around Maeve, so I'm fine with it. This episode clearly serves as the foundation for the big finale, so I hope that it will come, because if the creators let the ending fizzle out awkwardly, it would frustrate me. The ninth episode is not bad at all, it answers a series of questions, some of which are really important, but at the same time, I feel like something is missing in it. It seems to me that I was expecting something more, so all I can do is wait for the final episode of the season. I believe that nothing will be missing in it anymore. (23.01.2017)

I was pleased with the conclusion of the first series, I was worried that the last episode would be too short or it would end with everyone being happy forever, but the episode was full of twists, the ending was excellent, and William finally met the mysterious Wyatt. (24.01.2017)

Compared to the first season, it was a disappointment. There were plenty of action scenes, but they often fell flat because they were written just for effect without any bearing on the story itself. The story, in turn, often drowned in deep philosophical thought, thus losing momentum. There was a significant decline in quality in comparison to the first season. (26.09.2018)

Season 2 seamlessly picked up from the action-packed finale of the previous season. William shook off the dead weight, literally, and re-entered the story with his unique brand of empathy. This was hands down the best part — Westworld just wouldn’t be the same without this villain. (23.09.2018)

The second episode delved deep into the past, revealing lots of fascinating details about the park's beginnings. Honestly, I enjoyed this trip down memory lane more than the present-day action, which felt a bit slow. William, of course, was the exception — he never gets old. (23.09.2018)

For the first time, I rated a Westworld episode less than four stars, and it was for two main reasons. First, the middle of the episode felt a bit slow and sleepy, with too much philosophizing. Second, the absence of Ed Harris was a noticeable drawback. However, "Eastworld" and the battle for the fort still delivered the usual high quality. (24.09.2018)

This episode was a huge step up in quality for me. While the existential musings in the previous episode didn’t quite grab me, the storyline with James Delos in this one was incredibly engaging. Ed Harris had plenty of screen time, the atmosphere was spot on, and there was enough action to keep me entertained. Overall, I really enjoyed it. (24.09.2018)

Another visit to "Eastworld"! I have a soft spot for Japan, even if it’s the Americanized version. The events in "Shogunworld" were definitely more entertaining than Dolores and Teddy’s storyline, which is starting to get a bit dull for me. Plus, that ear thing was really bizarre! (24.09.2018)

I'm getting tired of Dolores' group's journey, and Maeve with her imaginary daughter is starting to annoy me. Thankfully, Ed Harris saved the day again. William's daughter added some intrigue to his storyline, and for once, I'm actually curious about what Bernard will bring back from the data stream. (24.09.2018)

I'd have thought I'd give a five-star rating after such an action-packed episode, but no. Westworld just doesn't hit the same way it did in the first season. While all the action scenes were well-executed, they seemed to mask the increasing flaws in the storyline. 4*- (26.09.2018)

This episode dialed back on the frantic shooting, and if it had just focused on the Native American story, I would’ve added an extra star. Unfortunately, they ruined William's character for me. Despite taking multiple nearly half-inch projectiles, he acted like someone who'd just had a rough night at the bar. That was a bit too much for me. (26.09.2018)
