A group of a Prague film school students is shooting a documentary about an insane asylum of St. Nicolas. It is said that even today, the ghosts of former patients are wandering in this sanatorium. The group, led by Natália Kocurová, is coming to the asylum to realize very soon that getting out will be much more difficult than getting in was. (Verleiher-Text)

Den Jungs kann man definitiv keine Begeisterung absprechen, aber Musik in einem Found-Footage-Horrorfilm zu verwenden ist einfach Blödsinn. Dadurch verliert es an Rohheit, dem Gefühl von Realität und den intensiveren Szenen fehlt es an Spannung. An einigen Stellen ist der Ton wirklich schlecht, aber das nehme ich als notwendiges Übel eines Amateurprojekts. Auf der anderen Seite ist die hiesige Schauspieltruppe recht sympathisch (außerdem ist Danča eine Süße), das Set ist angemessen abscheulich und die Macher haben ein paar interessante Ideen, wie man angst einjagen kann. Schade nur um die fehlende Angst. Das Böse wird also wieder nicht überwunden.

As an attempt at Czech found footage, the film must be evaluated positively. It has everything that such a film should have. Honestly, I also like the fact that the film is only an hour long, because otherwise it would be unnecessarily dragged out. If you have seen any found footage films, then the film "Svatý Mikuláš" has nothing to surprise you with. Personally, I rather appreciate that the Czech filmmakers took it on with honor and proved that it can work even in Czech conditions.
