Englisch Black and white shots alternate with sepia but also colored ones. Overall, a very interesting film. It also has moments where the characters talk, as well as moments in which everybody is silent. Surprisingly, scenes in which the characters do not speak are far more telling than those in which they do. And in its essence, it’s actually a film with a story like any other. What is important about it is the precise direction with which this story is shot. That’s the most interesting aspect of this movie. Thanks to the color filters, I got an idea of what the two were hiding inside and what they were trying to reveal to each other. It was interesting and it left me in a very special mood. This mood was enhanced by the intriguing shots of the races the director was clearly relishing. I don’t remember when I felt as emotionally attuned to a character as with the two protagonists in this movie, even though it didn’t come easily to me at all. ()

Englisch A gratifying love story with formal ambitions that on the one hand enrich it (the quiet nature of the scenes coloured with soft music and a mannerist camera), but on the other also hurt the flow of the narration and the otherwise accessible mundaneness (the weird colour palette and the tedious second half that incomprehensibly expands the events). In any case, a nice romantic movie that doesn’t push the envelope and lets its characters live realistically, though sometimes too self centred and ostentatious. 70% ()

Englisch In my opinion, Jean-Louis Trintignant is one of the best French actors in all of French cinema, so I always enjoy a film he's in. This is also essentially an improvisational film, which only proves his great acting skills. And I bet you’d never guess that about it. He is wonderfully natural and Anouk Aimée is a great acting partner for him. ()
