The story line of the film, which is the mixture of contemporary silent films, documentaries and slapstick, is as follows: Kálmán, a projectionist, retires. This is his last film. At home, his niece and her young man ask him about the past of the cinema as they know that his whole life has been devoted to films. Kálmán shows them some films on his own projector, while commenting on what they see on the screen. When the show is over, the young people remark that they prefer life as it is to life as depicted by the films. The young man does not hesitate to propose to the old man's niece, so that they can start a new life together. (Verleiher-Text)
