A psychiatrist is drawn into a complex mind game when he questions a young manipulative patient about the disappearance of a colleague. During the mental duel, it becomes increasingly unclear who ultimately dominates, patient or doctor. When psychiatrist Lawrence goes mysteriously missing from a hospital that has recently been plagued by scandal, Dr. Toby Green is called in to investigate before the news goes public. Convinced that troubled psychiatric patient Michael is hiding knowledge about his colleague - and in no rush to go home to his complicated personal life - Green is determined to control both the situation and the patient, adamantly ignoring the advice from the person who knows Michael best, Nurse Susan Peterson. As Michael demonstrates his superior intelligence and manipulative nature, it becomes increasingly unclear who ultimately dominates, patient or doctor. (Cinemax)

Englisch The conversations between the psychiatrist and the patient themselves are not bad, although it is clear at first glance who has the leading role. And it's not the psychiatrist. I didn't enjoy Bruce Greenwood's character and I didn't believe in it, which overall spoiled my impression. In terms of the plot, the movie didn't excite me much, but the madman and the nurse played by Catherine Keener were worth it. ()

Englisch This might be the first time that I feel that I found Xavier Dolan interesting in a movie. I’ve never been a big fan of his and whatever movie with him Cinemax offered to me was usually not worth squat. But Elephant Song is different. Xavier portrays a weirdo, which is no strange thing for him. He is evidently that type of extravagant faggot (nothing against them) who likes to draw attention to himself. On the other hand, I must say that he managed to create such an interesting character that you will have no idea what he’s going to do the next minute. As the user Marthos said it’s a game of cat and mouse – that is really fitting for this case. All the other actors seem to be extras and Xavier is wiping his ass with them. I must say I’m really surprised. Not only does Xavier portray an interesting character, he’s even in a somewhat meaningful story. Believe me, that is not always the case. ()
