Die hübsche Madison hat bei einer Party einen Unfall und ertrinkt fast in einem See. Nur knapp dem Tod entkommen, hat sie in den Sekunden, in denen sie anscheinend das Totenreich betreten hat, eine böse Kreatur auf sich aufmerksam gemacht, den Drownsman. Madison wird fortan von schrecklichen Visionen geplagt, denn scheinbar hat die grausame Kreatur, die durch Wasser überall hingelangen kann, es nun auf sie abgesehen... (I-on New Media)

Kdepak. Obwohl schön gemacht, ist es immer noch nur ein vakuumverpackter Schnellfilm, von denen es in Filmkanälen mehr als genug gibt. Austauschbarer Gegenspieler, viele Klischees, minimale Spannung. Dass Drownsman fast ohne Blut ist, würde ich dieses Mal tatsächlich als Minus sehen. Denn Todesfälle durch Ertrinken halte ich im Horror für eine der langweiligsten Varianten. Die Zelle könnte erzählen. (30%)

Average. At its most basic, is pretty similar to A Nightmare in Elm Street, but with a villain that is not a burned up murderer, but a drowned murderer. And he doesn’t get to the victims through their dreams, but with the help of any random large body of water. Plot-wise is a big cliché where everything happens exactly the way the viewer expects. From at least the moment the protagonist googles the origin of the curse, it is very clear what we are into. But it’s quite nicely shot, the characters are likeable, given the circumstances, and the make-up of the villain is fine. The rating is between two and three stars.
