Ein Crossover von einem Geisterdrama und einem Mordthriller mit einem intimen Einblick in die Hauptfigur, welche sich mit dem Tod ihres Bruders auseinandersetzt und gleichzeitig sich selbst sucht. Der Film nutzt ausgezeichnet die Emo-Tiefe von Kristen Stewart, er verfolgt sie bei jedem Schritt, bei jeder emotionalen Schwankung, durch die sie wie durch Regentropfen geht. Nur in der intimsten Szene mit der Masturbation lässt sie die Kamera im Zimmer alleine. Der beste Schnitt von einer fünfzehnminütigen (!) SMS-Szene ever. Ein angenehm düsteres Filmspiel wie von De Palma, das in Geheimnisse und Uneindeutigkeit versunken ist und ein Sinneserlebnis stimuliert. Und das mag ich. [Cannes] (19.05.2016)

From the first moment to the last, a personal tale that gets deep under the skin of the main heroine. But there all the intensity ends. In the introspective, almost demonstratively modest layer of the closed shopper, in the magic of normalcy. I still have yet to decipher the genre deviations for ghosts, I myself refused the voluntary path of doubt towards reports of the unknown, even despite its undeniable power. At the moment when piercing narrative questions are posed, I could finally properly get into that otherness, but the unsettling ambiguity of the answers is cowardly and the grinding of previous points by the conclusion itself is like a waste. A strange film that brings together genres that could have worked separately. A drama about a girl who is tired of her job and is trying to get over the death of her twin. But it's also a mystery thriller with literally horror scenes. Even though some scenes individually work interestingly, overall, even with the last scene, there isn't any significant spiritual fulfillment. (16.05.2017)
