In seinem Heimatstädtchen in Nebraska gilt Todd Burpo als der Mann für alle Fälle. Neben sich für Reparaturen, Sporttraining und Feuerlöschen zu engagieren, leitet er als Priester die Gottesdienste seiner Gemeinde. Als sein vierjähriger Sohn Colton eine Operation nur knapp übersteht, gerät Todds Glauben ins Wanken. Colton behauptet, er hätte während einer Nahtod-Erfahrung den Himmel gesehen. Und tatsächlich erzählt Colton von Details aus dem Leben verstorbener Familienmitglieder, von denen er eigentlich nichts wissen kann. (ORF)

I am not a religious person and I don't understand why this is such a big story. Yes, there are moments when it really seems like the boy knows something more than he should know. On the other hand, it's a testimony of the movie and the testimony of the little boy's father. Even though it's based on a true event, I am too much of a skeptic to be impressed by this. The performances are fine, the boy is great, and I simply like Greg, but the movie didn't catch me in any way. Just another great film for believing brothers and sisters.
