Countdown

Home invasion + exploitation + stoner comedy + slight metaphysical overtone. The beginning suffers from the annoying characters (loud Thai teenagers) and the creators could have done without the resolution, and yet, I feel the weak four stars are an appropriate rating for this really energetic film that’s never boring. The execution and the performances are very good. What bothered me the most was that climax, because I simply don’t like that kind of thing. (19.01.2014)

Ohne den Hauptschurken wäre Countdown ein Teich voller durchschnittlicher Ausbeuter. Aber Jesus ist wirklich großartig. Vielleicht erinnert er euch an den verrückten Bob aus Twin Peaks, aber sein schauspielerisches Spektrum ist viel reicher und vor allem theatralischer. Mit der Noblesse von Patrick Bateman quält er sie psychisch und foltert dann körperlich drei schrägäugige Teenager, die nur an Silvester etwas rauchen wollten. Der manische Bibelzitierende ruft jedoch eine etwas eigenartigere Reise hervor. Die Gewalt ist zwar von leichterer Natur und die endgültige Auflösung völlig unnötig, aber sonst ist der Film schön gemacht und teilweise ziemlich lustig. Aber wie gesagt, ohne Jesus... (28.08.2016)
