Julie Wardh (Edwige Fenech) is a lovely but jaded woman who is no longer satisfied in her relationship with husband Neil (Alberto de Mendoza), a wealthy but emotionally cold man of privilege. However, as she ponders the fate of her marriage, her thoughts often turn to her former lover Jean (Ivan Rassimov), a cruel libertine with a taste for inflicting pain. Julie meets handsome George (George Hilton) at a wild party and discovers he's attracted to her just as she's drawn to him. Julie and George are soon involved in a torrid affair, but it's Julie's poor fortune that Jean attended the party where they first met and knows about her new infidelity. Even worse, Jean is willing to blackmail Julie to get what he wants, forcing her into a desperate situation. (Verleiher-Text)

Die Begeisterung für dieses Stück hier ist gerechtfertigt. Ein ausgezeichneter Giallo aus Martin's Stall, der bereits solche großartigen Filme wie "Torso" und "The Case of the Scorpion's Tail" auf seinem Konto hat. Martino spielt hier wieder eine brillante Katze-und-Maus-Spiel, bei dem der verwirrte Zuschauer buchstäblich nach Strohhalmen greift, um schließlich in verborgenen Indizien und falschen Spuren zu ertrinken. Ein fantastisches Finale wird Sie mit mehreren überraschenden Wendungen begeistern, die Sie einfach mitreißen werden. "The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh" läuft auch sonst hervorragend, es fehlt nicht an Dynamik, schöner Musik, nackter Haut und dem glänzenden Messer des Mörders. Martino wusste genau, was seine Fans von ihm erwarten.

Unexpectedly, Vienna is a cool place for a Giallo murder mystery and it was nice to see that the area around Schönbrunn, its park and dark corners, still looks just as sexy after 50 years; too bad the ending wasn't just as sexy. Yeah, it's got suspense, it's got style, it's got atmosphere and the beautiful Edwige Fenech, but the final weak twist sent the whole experience down the drain. Such a muddled script is unworthy of Sergio Martino's skill.

The Italian giallo, with its film "Lo strano vizio della Signora Wardh," once again showed its beautiful face to me and I was reassured that this is unequivocally a genre that suits me, a genre that I can enjoy because it is something that can keep me on edge, a genre that interests me. Keeping the viewer's attention is not easy, but here I was truly just watching with anticipation, wondering what the twist would be. It is definitely not bad.

It’s not as heart attack inducing as Torso, but has a better plot and a resolution that is hard to guess in advance.
