I couldn’t imagine I would laugh so much while watching a Britcom about two gays who are Sirs in reality and are among the top British actors. Their lines were brilliant. It was really funny. Making fun of people both old and young. It is a pity that it only had 14 episodes. And in the last episode it was really evident that they don’t want this series to end. After a long time something from British production that is exactly what you love about Britcoms. (07.10.2020)

I will not review the series as a whole because I only watched it briefly, but my first encounter ended with great confusion, despite the luxurious cast. It is too forced, and childish, and I can't remember being bothered by canned laughter anywhere else like here. It is essentially the essence of the sitcom genre, which in such a pure form is, in my opinion, outdated. This is so sitcom-like that it could serve as a television backdrop within another series. Gespräche mit der unsterblichen und ahnungslosen Mutter. Ständige verbale Scharmützel, Gezänk und Unterstellungen der schärfsten Sorte. Überprüfen des Zustands eines alten Haustiers. Eine alte Freundin immer wieder vorstellen. Ich könnte sicherlich noch eine Weile so weitermachen und Elemente aufzählen, die in praktisch jeder Folge dieser unglaublich humorvollen britischen Sitcom vorkommen. Die Besetzung ist absolut perfekt - McKellen und Jacobi spielen (bzw. "schauspielern") überzeugend, de la Tour ist in jeder Hinsicht ein versoffener und koketter Komödiant, und auch der mir bisher unbekannte Iwan Rheon hat mich angenehm überrascht. Dieses äußerst sympathische Quartett wird durch weitere witzige Nebenfiguren ergänzt, die ebenso unterhaltsam sind wie die Hauptfiguren. Für manche mag es eine Wiederholung immer wieder desselben bedeuten, aber für mich funktioniert es, weil ich mich königlich amüsiere und fast ständig lache. Kurzum, eine ausgezeichnete, unendlich unterhaltsame und sehr gut besetzte Sitcom, die mir sehr gut gefallen hat. (29.03.2014)
