Contracted

You don’t want a one-night stand like this. The recent, and thematically similar, Thanatomorphose was a stronger experience, but it doesn’t matter who copied who, the resulting movies are quite different in their mood. This one has a plot and we get to know more about the characters, while Thanatomorphose is more explicit and intense, and also amateurishly made, but it does get under your skin. Contracted, before it can do that, begins to slightly piss you off with the behaviour of the characters, which becomes more stupid the closer it gets to the end. Overall, it’s nothing great that I will need to remember, but it’s not bad, either. In any case, from the bland and empty Madison County, this one is a directorial step in the right direction. Celkem detailní rozbor rozpadávající se dívky. Během tří dnů sledujeme pod drobnohledem její transformaci z krásné lesbičky na fyzickou trosku, jejíž tělo začnou postupně opouštět vlasy, nehty, zuby. Ale nebojte, dojde i na červy vypadávající z vagíny, takže fakt chuťovka. Chuťovka o to víc nepříjemná, že postihne takhle sympatickou holčinu, která klopýtne jen na jeden večer. Narozdíl od jmenované Thanatomorfózy však tenhle snímek disponuje větším budgetem a hlavně příběhem, což mi sedí rozhodně víc. Za mě určitě spokojenost. A teď vzhůru na Halleyovu kometu. Gesamte detaillierte Analyse eines zerfallenden Mädchens. Innerhalb von drei Tagen beobachten wir unter dem Mikroskop ihre Verwandlung von einer schönen Lesbe zu einem physischen Wrack, aus dessen Körper Haare, Nägel und Zähne allmählich verschwinden. Aber keine Sorge, es wird auch Maden geben, die aus der Vagina herausfallen, also wirklich ein Leckerbissen. Ein Leckerbissen, der umso unangenehmer ist, da er ein so sympathisches Mädchen betrifft, das nur für einen Abend strauchelt. Im Gegensatz zur erwähnten Thanatomorphose verfügt dieser Film jedoch über ein größeres Budget und vor allem über eine Geschichte, was definitiv besser zu mir passt. Für mich auf jeden Fall zufriedenstellend. Und jetzt auf zum Halley's Comet. (16.05.2014)

I gotta admit, I enjoyed it. You never really know what will turn you into a zombie these days. Back in the day, folks had to get bitten or scratched. In iZombie, it's all about this weirdly cut drug. And now, if you're unprotected, you should apparently be thankful for syphilis or HIV. Fortunately, the movie turned out to be just some silly fun with no hidden agenda. Najarra Townsend, who caught my eye in The Stylist (2020), was a real standout — even with those ears. She really added to the whole enjoyment factor for me. For a while, I wasn't sure if it really qualified as a horror flick, but then I tried to put myself in the main character's shoes, and horror it was. / Lesson learned: sunglasses at night aren't just for posers or the Terminator, apparently. As the story approaches its end, you realize how desperate England was and how he no longer knew what to do. The film is starting to fall apart in his hands, the performances are not helping much, and in the end, "Contracted" only ends up being an ugly picture of what that girl becomes. Both physically and mentally. Well, this is just an example of how a condom can save your life. And not just yours, but also all your loved ones. (03.02.2014)
