The genetic modification of food and its worldwide consumption continues with limited knowledge of its effects on humans and the environment. But increasing studies are cause for concern especially on how genetically engineered seeds now dominate the food supply and the potentially adverse effects they are having on our health. A father looks at this trend in relation to his three boys and investigates the motives behind poor Haitian farmers burning hybrid corn and vegetable seeds donated by Monsanto after the earthquake in 2010. Data, statistical analysis and animation also help to illustrate the thematic strands of the documentary. GMO OMG travels across the US and the globe to explore possible solutions to the alarming growth in genetic food modification and the hope and direction offered by organisations like Seed Savers Exchange and Svalbard Global Seed Vault.
